On the 18th of January 2008 the Board of Directors of the Fondazione Giovanni Agnelli, chaired by Countess Maria Sole Agnelli Teodorani Fabbri, has appointed Dr. Andrea Gavosto as Director of the Fondazione as of 1 February 2008.

An Economist, after a degree in Economics from the University of Turin and a specialization in Economics at the London School of Economics, Andrea Gavosto worked for the Research Centres of Banca d’Italia, Fiat and Confindustria, and has been Chief Economist of Telecom Italia from 2002 to 2007.  He carried out several researches on macroeconomics and business economics together with some major Universities and Research Institutions, both in Europe and the US.

The Board has given the new Director mandate to focus the Fondazione’s research activities on the crucial issues of Education in Italy, with the firm belief that the quality of human capital is one of the main elements of an individual’s economic welfare, social cohesiveness and fulfilment, today more than ever.

The Board has thanked former Director Marco Demarie for the excellence of the research work and cultural dissemination carried out by the Fondazione Giovanni Agnelli under his direction, and for keeping its prestige alive from 2001 to date.
